Alright. I've heard some basic recommendations: moist not wet, a little shade. I'm trying to come up with a "perfect" nest for fragile corms, small corms etc. Here's what I'm thinking. I'm thinking of using pine/hardwood bark (not wood chips) + perlite. Real airy stuff with some water retention. Not too many bacteria, fungus and junk to rot it out. Opinions?

Sounds to me like you may want ot try an orchid mix. If not, redwood might be a better choice than pine, as it is less apt to harbor rot.

I would forgo the pine as well. I have had success using mushroom compost for small corms. I mix it with potting soil about 50/50. When the plant takes off, plant it as normal.
