I was wondering if there was anyway to encourage banana plants to pup, ie adjusting chemical balance when feeding., Thanks Mark

I posted a link in this thread that may help but the methods all involve cutting the plant:

In my experience with Dwarf Cavendish, feeding the plant with a high Nitrogen fertilizer, like a 20-10-10 formulation, in combination with limiting the exposure to sunlight to no more the 35%, makes the plant produce pups. Obviously, with this combination, you have to watch the plant closely, so that you do not over water it. This procedure should work with most bananas, but you might be sacrificing fruit production.

I forgot to mention that the link is strictly Musa despite it's bieng in a Maurelii thread. I would post it here but I don't know how because Jarred posted it with translation.

I have tried this v cut but how do you keep the plant while it is pupping, do you just keep warm and dry? I have mine outside at minute under my bananas in jungle corner where it is well sheltered, but i will be moving into greenhouse

I had a maurell that had strangles earlier in the year.
I cut that to the base then scooped out the centre.
I left it outside in our uk weather and it pupped within a couple of weeks. New plant looks fine.
