Hi
I live in England in what is now Greater London and have been growing bananas since the mid 60s with ensete ventricosum seed,in those days it nearly made the national news as it was unheard of.The climate restricts us here to the basjoo and maurellii though in the summer I put out cavendish and zebrina.
My recent aquition is a couple of variegated from Thailand, one of which is a dormant corm ,the other was sold as heliconia musa, which I am assured is a banana not a heliconia(just hope he isn't a Thai used car salesman)
The dormant corm is Florida 2 no idea what a Florida 1 is though,it just appealed to me,after seeing something similar in Sri Lanka ,only that had half the leaf green and the other half white.I have never seen one since and would love to know if anyone can put a name to it,just like a regular banana with large leaves but coloured half way top to bottom green and white.
