I'm not even gonna attempt to try to embed the photo into the thread, but if you could look in my gallery, I'm wondering why my sago seems to be flushing out so poorly. I expected to have alot more leaves than just this. :(
(Yes, I know.. a sago is a cycad, not a palm :)

Carolina,
patience, patience, and more patience..... I grow lots of palms and this is, by far, one of the SLOWEST i've ever seen... They only put out 1 new set of fronds annually... these are the polar opposite of bananas.... But, let me tell you they're worth the wait. I mature sago is a beautiful specimen and worth alot of money too....

And the "sago" palm that you have is a Cycas revoluta. The typical landscape Sago palm is a gross misnaming, it is a FALSE Palm, as indeed it is a Cycad. This is the source of major major confusion.
There are several true edible Sago Palms, one of the most common is the true palm Metroxylon sagu. These are similar looking from a distance to the palm-like Asian cycad Cycas revoluta, in the family Cycadaceae. Both the stem (which is sometimes branching) and the terminal crown of pinnate leaves of Cycas revoluta are similar to those of a true palm. However, Cycas revoluta leaves are stiff and borne as a rosette not singly as in palms; the male inflorescence resembles a cone, a key identifying character. Cycas revoluta is the most widely cultivated cycad. Edible starch, "sago," can be extracted from the stem of both Metroxylon sago and Cycas revoluta, which explains the shared common name.

Thanks, Joe. Some interesting info there.
Bobby, slow is the word! What I was questioning was the fact you only see like 3 or 4 leaves. I thought when it flushed it would be like... 10? *LOL*
This is the first time in over the year I've had this sago that it has flushed. I've seen sago's (other peoples) putting out more leaves than this.
I have two. Got them about 15 months ago. First flush. *GAH!*
Thanks MediaHound. I need a one on one tutorial. I've yet to figure it out. Pretty sure its really very simple. :)

Carolina,
Sago palms are a source of a lot of very good exotic delicacies or dessert preparations from Asian stores, so I should know which is which. I was really surprised that all over the US of A, and to think we are supposed to be more educated, have grossly misnamed the Cycas revoluta as the sago palm.

Joe.. I remember seeing sago listed as toxic when the starch is unprocessed. Extreme web videos come to mind *LOL* I just saw on MSNBC those crazy teenagers.. one of which was eating a potted cactus. So kids.. this ain't cool!
