Here are some shots of my first Banana Blossom. I think it might be an "Orinoco" not 100% sure. Hopefully when the Blossom opens up fully, someone will help me ID it.

Congratulations!! At this point it looks like a Orinoco but you can tell for sure after the first hands of fruit emerge.
Hang in there Carolina! Something good may be just behind that next leaf.

How long was it in the ground before flowering?

Saturn,
I planted it as a "pup" around 20th of April 05. Then around November 15, (before our first freeze) I dug it up,cut all the leaves off and put it (the root ball) in a plastic garbage bag, and then seperated it's 3 "pups" and put all of them in my unheated, outside Garage. I then replanted all April 10 of this year.Fertilized every 2 to 3 weeks (10-10-10) and watered at least once a week, sometimes 2 ..... Then the latter part of June it started to Blossom! Hope this helps!! Good Luck !!

Sweet! Looks like Orinoco to me also. Keep us updated, and show a picture of the fruit. Somebody will probably be able to give an ID then.
One of my Orinocos is sending out a bloom also. There'll be bananas in zone 7a again this year :bananas_b !
