I am guessing a variegated Nam Wa. I am bidding one on ebay now, looks similar.

THAI BANANA , " NAM WA " , Variegated Plant - eBay (item 370081216370 end time Sep-01-08 08:37:54 PDT) (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=3&campid=1782091&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%2 6item%3D370081216370%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m32%26_trkparms%3Dtab%253 DWatching%23ebayphotohosting)

No, it was this:
Musa sapientum Linn. Variegated plant (1) - eBay (item 260278492157 end time Aug-30-08 05:42:35 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260278492157)

I had bid on both this auction and the variegated Namwah, Scot, but but I gave up when I heard from someone who is has been collecting variegated tropical plants for 25+ years that this particular plant would be unstable, so I did not bother to bid again. His comments were:

As for the variegation present on the particular plant you see pictured.............don't be fooled. These are all somatic variegates and not genetic variegates. Somatic variegates are not stable and can produce any amount of variegation from one end of the spectrum to the other at any time during its life.

He has had several variegated Namwah plants, so I think he knows what he's talking about.

Regarding the banana in the original photo of this thread, I had bid on that one also but wasn't sure what it was and also did not feel like taking significant risk with someone that had absolutely no eBay feedback. He has since received one positive feedback rating as a buyer.

Since I decided not to bid more on those two eBay plants I went out and bought myself a variegated Basjoo from a reliable source. I'll post photos when I have something worth showing. :)

Cheers,

Harvey

The description of the item says that it is a Saba????? Hmmm, variegated Saba. That would be something, wouldn't it? I don't think that the word "Puso" is Thai. But "Puso" means heart in the Philippines, which is exactly what we call the male flower. And yes, we cooked the center of the Puso like a vegetable. Most famous recipe of which is "Kare-Kare" - a beef stew in peanut butter sauce.

I read that description a few times and figured it was probably copied from somewhere else and I didn't know how much of it to believe. As far as I know, the seller didn't have a clue what they were writing about.

Cool, thanks Harvey. I quit bidding because of the lack of feedback and the price went way too high. I think it sold for over $120.
Now I am glad that I stopped the insanity before the hammer dropped.
