Over time, I have seen varios methods for rooting pineapple tops. Here's one we just threw in a cup of plainwater, for a week or two.

Don't you just love it?! It took me several pineapples to get the hang of it!
It'll always excite me to see roots on a pineapple top:goteam:

The truth is: when she walks into a supermarket the pineapples all grow legs and run to the back of the store to hide.

My husband is trained to look for the best looking top when he runs to the store for me, and yes we did go through ALOT as my daughter was pregnant and craving them!

i had them go into the back at krogers and bring out a whole cart of pineapples so i could pick through them.....the guy wasnt happy but i told him what i was doing and he got really interested.....i saw him a few days later and he said that he took 2 home to get them started... he asked me how i grew my nana trees and i told him you get 2 organic nanas and plant them in well draining dirt and in 1 year ( after watering and proper care) a nana tree will explode out of the skins......he didnt believe that one but we both got a great laugh off it. he was very interested about the whole thing.

Talking about planting tops, have 5 growing as air plants, that were once in cups of water to root!!
Going to soak them over night and plant tomorrow with rooting hormone.:2221::2221::2221::2221::2221:

That was a good article. That's the way it finally worked for me too except all I had was spaghum moss and perlite.

i twisted the tops off mine, peeled back a few layers of the leaves and stuck them in a coffee cup of water just to the core line and left them for 2 weeks. the roots were 1/4 in to 1/2 in long when i planted them last week. thank you for the artical.

All I did was twist the tops off, take all lower leaves off, wait a day or 2, then planted tightly in the dirt. One of the easiest plants I 've ever had!

I twist the top off, let it sit a few days on the counter, plant it deep enough to be stable, shallow enough so dirt stays out of the bud, water every 2 or 3 days for a month. It always works. I have around 150 plants now, most via slips.

The very top of my plant rotted, but when I pulled it off, new leaves were growing underneath!
