I noticed my neihbor had a banana tree so I ask her about it and she said, "oh those things never ripen". I told her I had just learned they take a LONG time like maybe 4 to 6 months. She was shocked! She would love to know what kind it is. It is very short compared to mine and the leaves are very wide and there are a bunch of leaves. I am 5 feet 8 and it's under me. The bananas come out of the trunk at about my chest. I took my camera over there and snapped some photos. They are in my gallery under Anna's Bannana's. :) I am going to attemp to post them here like Chong taught me but I dont' know if it will work so just in case that's where the pics are. Here goes...

They take great care of their plants and yard so I'm sure it's pretty healthy. Thanks for your help, she is giong to be so excited to know what it is. When I told her they were edible but she just had to learn how to ripen them so was SO EXCITED! She is not computer friendly otherwise she would be on here too. Anyway, thanks for id'ing.

I posted on the main board for ripening and harvesting ?'s. :)
