Craigs list! I check it a few times per week. I found a really cool banana grower 10 minutes from my house. He has many varieties and sells locally. Most of the five gallons were $12.50! These are big 6 to 8 foot plants. Many have pups shooting out. I listed what I bought but he also had:
Goldfinger
Cardaba
Dwarf Cavendish
Brazilian
Dwarf Brazilian
Dwarf Chinese
Dwarf Orinoco
Rajapuri
He also had some others but I forgot the names. They are all field grown. My wife said "how many banana plants do you need?" I said "I only have 25 different varieties" :ha:
Check out your local Craigs list as you never know what you will find.

I've bought some before off of Craig's List. They are always unknowns though. I can understand your wife asking you about how many bananas do you need. My wife does the same thing. She complained that the yard is starting to look like a jungle. :ha:

It's funny. My husband is not a gardener in the least, he is a true blue city boy. But when I bought my first banana corms, and I got them planted he would go check up on them in the sunroom at least 5x a day absolutely amazed at the growth, and he'd asked me... Did you water them? Do they need more sun? Is the room warm enough ect ect... he even helped me with my latest project of seperating a Dwarf Brazilian's pup... I almost think he'd like the whole yard to be full of bananas... I'm waiting for him to confess ^_-

wow! you got a great bunch( pun intended) there. lol. and for the ones who have spouses who question how many nana plants you need........tell them many but you only need one of him/her. lol! a little reverse psychology should have them scratching their heads for a few days.... or just long enough for you to get back to the nursery and pick up some more nanas. lol!

If your wife is complaning about the number of banana plants or your jungle, you have the wrong wife.

She's great, I do have a V12 Twin turbo CL600 Mercedes, a supercharged Z06 Corvette and an 89 Corvette. I can't complain!! She likes all of her varieties of plumeria, gingers, hibiscus and other tropicals. I just love the look of banana. After 30-years together I wouldn't have it any other way :) .

Wow.
As thoughts up here start turning to winter (Sears Xmas Wish Book is out and August isn't even finished yet!) I have to say I am really jealous.
I was in CA back in June and stopped at a Home Depot on a driving break. I couldn't believe the prices. $11 for Bird of Paradise (the whole plant!). $75 for a big ass Palm. Jeez, my 3 inch Basjoo was $10 and by the time I paid for shipping it was close to 20.
If I lived there, or could figure out a way of getting the darn things over the border here, you wouldn't be able to see my house for the jungle.

I sell on Craig's List too but unlike the person you bought from I don't give mine away. ;)

Is that the Z06 hiding under the cover in garage?
Now honestly, which is more fun, the bananas or the cars?
Yeah, I prefer the plants as well. :nanadrink:

Yes. They are both very therapeutic. The plants allow me to play in the yard or green house and see and eat my fruits of labor. The cars are also a passion. The Z06 is a blast! At over 600 hp it takes your breath away. I show the car with my daughters. We have a car show this Saturday. It's great dad and daughter time together.

Nothing beats spending the day with my girl's! My oldest will be featured in a Corvette magazine in December. They came out to the house and to a few car shows. The story is how she has been showing cars since she was two and the bond we have. The article is called Haley's Hotrod.
