I bought this labelled as chini champa? But it doesn’t look anything like a chini champa I grew several years ago, so I would like anyone’s opinion if they think it could be something ells, it was imported to the UK from India.

Hi Kyle, the other chimi champa I had was very glaucus on the stem interspersed with black mottling, and glaucus on the under side off the leaf.

That's pretty sweet. It's also supposed to have small fruits like Veinte cohune, so maybe it will be a better choice for cooler areas than VC, and fruit quick too?!

Don't know, Tony. I don't have any experience with this one at all, sorry! It is a nice-looking little plant though.

I’m surprised that Chini champa isn’t grown more often in the US, I found it a bit more frost tolerant then say Cavendishi Orinoco and Rajapuri, it was slow growing though in a UK summer, but your summers are much warmer and I recon it would perform better for you guys in the US.

Hi Kev, there is a local garden centre were I live selling them, and I have been told that there from a plant supplier called Ganesh mani pradhan in India , but they don’t look like the ones I use to have or Greenies and Mark Hall’s, I’ll buy one tomorrow and post a pic. See what you think. Here is a link to Ganesh mani pradhan.

Here it is and it fits the description by Ganesh very well, so I recon there is some regional variation in chini champa.
