Heads up for all of you DLF fans!
Just got my catalog today and Logee's has them once again! Better buy quick before they are gone again...I think I might have to pass it up for money reasons. I want to see pictures from anyone who buys one!
Anyway, happy growing!

This plant is great for someone who wants a banana that will fruit at 3ft. In a pot. It produces a decent size bunch, but I never tasted them. Gave the plant away before they ripened. You can see a picture in my gallery.

Great pics, Brian! Has anyone else had such luck with this banana?

I'm growing it. I got it last year as a 6 inch TC. I'm container growing and it's probably up to about 18 inches; very slow for me starting off but I got it late last year just before winter set in and container grew in my greenhouse over the winter.

I bought another one of these a few months ago when Logee's e-mailed me a coupon but today I received a catalog from them and noticed that they've got a "new lower price" of $19.95 for one plant (vs. $24.95 previously) and $17.95 each for two or more. Logee's Greenhouse-Musa 'Dwarf Lady Finger' (http://www.logees.com/prodinfo.asp?number=R1973-4).
Other than suffering from some dry air in my house, mine is doing well. I think I'll move it into the greenhouse. The pseudostem is now about 15 inches so maybe it will flower for me this year.

I should have mentioned this....since I did see the lower price in their emails a week or 2 ago.
Thanks Harvey!

This wasn't in any of the e-mails I've got from them. They've sent me e-mails with Basjoo and SDC on sale, though. I was surprised to see in in their catalog.
I wish I knew what this plant is and if Agri-Starts does the TC for them.

I just checked - You're right...it must have been while I was just surfing their site...
I have not received their catalog, although I think I ordered one through the 6 to 8 week free mailing. If I am wrong on this too, forgive me!

I haven't ordered much from Logee's, just twice I think, but I've received about 3 catalogs from this in just this month alone. Many very nice photos!

Harvey What were the plants like that you recieved?

Kylie, as I recall, the plants had a total height of about 12"-15" with about four leaves. I believe the second one I received last fall was larger than the first one I bought, making me think that sales may have slowed down a bit. The plants are well-rooted in the small 4" pots and grew well. The last one is presently growing in my house in a Bay Window and puts on a new leaf about every week and I'm hoping I may even get it to flower this year.

I found a promo code for an additional $3 off. Just enter EMAIL to receive a discount on the already low price!

Weird, my e-mail didn't show me a promo code and when I go to their web site using the e-mail link it shows me the regular price. Don't know what's up.

Harvey, this fooled me at first, too. This email left the promotional code information out.
Go back to your previous emails from them.
"Note: To receive these special prices you must put the first item into your shopping basket, then enter "EMAIL" as the promotional code and click on the submit button"
I'm sure it's the same. They had to resend an email not too long ago because of an error. I doubt they will resend this one with the information attached, but maybe in the next email they send for clarification. I am willing to bet they are getting a lot of emails about this.

My prior e-mail from Logee's with other items on sale had the promo code of "email" and I just tried that and it works for these banana sale items as well.
Other items on sale include:
Musa Cavendish 'Super Dwarf' $14.95
Musa 'Double Mahoi' $16.95
Musa acuminata 'Siam Ruby' $19.95
Musa 'Rajapuri' $14.95
Musa basjoo "Hardy Banana" $14.95
Hope that helps,
Harvey

Taylor, I've tested the old "email" code and, as I reported above, it still works.
When I get a pup from mine I'll put on on the list for one. My price will be $16.94 plus shipping. ;)

And add a penny to the shipping cost!
:)
Thanks, Harvey. I hope it's a winner. Do you have pics in your gallery?

No, I've moved my plant into my greenhouse last week as it was getting dried out in the house. The plant has been at a pretty good growth rate and most days have been pretty warm in my greenhouse so I expect it to do a bit better in the higher humidity. It's in a 1 gallon pot now but will get moved into something larger soon.

Kylie, my two prior orders shipped a couple of days after I ordered and arrived about 2-3 days after that, as I recall. I would think they would replace it if it doesn't survive.

The plants I got from them (none bananas) were in perfect condition upon arrival. I'm not sure how long it took, but their quality of packing is so good...with care... just like Stark Bros.

My dwarf lady finger is on its way! Yay! Has anyone overwintered this banana in the garage or in a crawl space? I wonder how it stores during the winter.
