Should I wait until it grows a bit more? I bought it since I was curious since it only said "Banana Plant". Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Carlos(tropicalkid)

Definetly Cavendish, looks like either 'High Color Mini' or 'Super Dwarf Cavendish'. Although the brighter red on the leaves seems to suggest perhaps more likely it is 'High Color Mini'.

I would agree with Gabe. My SDC has no color what so ever.

OK, Gabe! I agree it looks like my cavendishes, but 'definitely"? Give us an ID lesson, please.

Well its short stocky habit and red splashes on the leaves narrows it down to 2 bananas pretty quick, 'SDC' and 'High Color Mini'. Both are pretty common these days, and although 'SDC' can have red coloration, it usually doesnt stick around like that as it does on 'High Color Mini', of course growing conditions detirmine a lot of the appearence as well, but I would say its 'High Color Mini', however to make things even more confusing, the difference between those 2 bananas is not much at all, they are both miniature cavendish types, 'High Color Mini' is most likely an 'SDC' sport anyways.

Good enough for me. My tissue culture hc minis had all dried up when I got back from Scotland a few weeks ago, so I've just 'assumed' they were a name for sd Cavendishes. I guess what was on my mind is that I've seen red on a lot of immature bananas- Brazilians, for instance.
Thanks for giving us the details.
