I was wondering... I have two super dwarf cavendish bananas planted out front, and I need to winter them in about two months. I can either pot them up, or I was wondering if they can be wintered by cutting all the leaves off except emerging one, washing the soil off roots, cutting off most of the roots, drying the corm in the sun for a day or so, and then storing in a cool, dark basement that averages 58-60F in the winter.
I'd almost rather store them in the basement than trying to pot them up and keep them safe from my dog and cats. If anyone has been successful, let me know. Thanks.
