Hi,

Can I plant them in a big pot then bring them inside the living room during winter? Will they live in the living room? How tall do they grow?

Or maybe guys, do you have a recommendation on a banana plant with a reddish/greenish foliage, around 5'-7' tall, and that I can bring inside the house for display during winter?

Thanks,

Neil

Yes you can bring this plant indoors during the winter providing the pot is large and you have a sunny window. Be foerwarned that the leaf color will not be as intense and may even turn to green, and they also will not be as firm, but if you don't make the common mistake of overwatering, the plant will make it through the winter and come spring, when moved outdoors, will once again be magnificent. I have a picture of mine in my gallery from last winter and one from this summer.

Neil, Why not just let it go dormant. Are you just wanting a nana during winter? For me I like a bit of a break except for a few pups in the GH. But, like mm said you can do it, but over watering can be an issue and so are spider mites. If you decide to make it go dormant check out the one Randy4ut wintered in his garage. Wow.

spider mites are a pain in the hoo- ha in the winter time. all of my nanas except 8-10 pups are overwintering outside this year. the pups are back ups.
