Here is how my bloom is progressing. Since this is my first bloom everyone please explain exactly what's happening now. I'm still trying to id this banana so any advice. I'll keep updating as they progress. Another question about how long from this point to ripening ( not sure if edible either), I probably have about 2 1/2 months until I have to take them in for winter?

tarheeldiver ,
Write the date in which the first hand opened. It usually will take about 4 month's for the bananas to ripen. I would not cut the bunch and let it do its thing:bananas_b.Could you post a pic of the entire plant?

I have a picture of the entire plant when it first started blooming and a better pic of one of its pups thats a couple years older that gives a better view because the bloomer didn't put out much this year before blooming.http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=11320&size=1 (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=11320&ppuser=1276)

Wow, that's a lot of bananas.
Question for you, as the bloom worked it's way down, did the bananas beneath the leafs start getting smaller and smaller? And if so, are the growing to be the same size as the first hands?

This is my first bloom so I don't know the bottom ones look smaller but it could be the first ones are just growing larger while the bloom works it way down.

Is that 10 on ONE hand? Good for you! But does Orinoco make that many? LMK

This banana has as many as 13 bananas on a hand on down to the one with 10
like I said I'm not sure of the type but consensus seems to be that it's Orinoco but I don't know for certain.
greg
Oh yeah Taylor your CG looks great
what part of Va do you live?
