On a recent trip to a local nursery, I found a banana labeled, "Mona Lisa." At the time, I hadn't ever heard of it, so I resisted purchase until I could do further research. I checked the Wiki, and it pretty much gives the same information that the tag did, so I wanted to ask if anyone here has ever grown this variety. I'm curious about..

- Cold tolerance
- Wind resistance
- Heat tolerance
- Growth trends

The plants they had looked very healthy. The pseudostems were very thin, but the leaves were nice and big. About three feet tall, at $14.99.

Any input is highly appreciated!

I got this one winter of '06 as a pup around 12".. It got to about 4 of pstem before packing it up for the Winter '07..Mine stayed under the house so no info on the cold hardiness.... It was cut back to the crom and here it is today...planted out at the middle of April or first of May.. the damage is from 60 mph winds and our temps range from 92*~103* right now
Holding up well I would get it... nothing needy about this girl...

Still looking good! The wind in my backyard isn't that strong by a long shot, but it's very consistent - usually between 6 -15 MPH. But even with the shredded leaves, yours is still a pretty plant. I think I will pick one up this weekend.

Thanks!

I'm hoping to make this situation an increasingly rare phenomenon.:ha:
