As large as you have space for. Frederick is a cultivar of Passiflora edulis or Purple Maracuya. I had one that covered an entire balcony, maybe 300 feet of vine, quite handily. You can also train them to hide the walls of your house; I have a friend who did this, and he's got over 500+ feet of it. These are not, by any stretch, the largest specimens I've seen.
You can limit its size by pruning it judiciously, and by limiting the amount of soil it's growing in (ie put it in a pot.)

When you get fruits, post about it!!! I have numerous recipes for Maracuya - from simple juicing recipes (easier than you think) to hotsauce, to Maracuya-banana mousse, and finally roasted drunken turkey in a white-wine and maracuya glaze. The possibilities are truly endless.

Lorax tells it like it is!! Hey Lorax - post your recipes in the recipe folder - lots of us need more delicious recipes for this tropical stuff!! Our passion seasons run Dec/Jan and Jun/July so not long until they are done here. Mine have produced less this summer as I hacked them down in the spring - they had broken the supports!!

Yes, I agree with Lorax ... and "Frederick" has always won the double-blind taste tests. Now I was hoping that someone would create a Recipes (other plants) category, but it looks like those recipes will have to be posted somewhere else. Soon I hope! I've got fruit ripening on my Frederick right now!

Odd, Cass. Most of our passionfruit has no season - we've got it year round. The only exception is Taxo, a local variety, which is strictly during the dry season.
If people tell me which recipes they want, I'll start a Tropical Fruit Recipes thread in the Recipes forum, and put them there.

Well we mostly get the yellow passionfruit (flaviocarpa) and VERY occasionally see the odd reddish one - and the season ends like someone turned off the switch. I brought back some seed of the purple edulis which I am growing on - be interesting to see if that is seasonal too.
Bring on the recipes - my mouth is watering already! How about passion fruit, followed by papaya and pineapple? I have easy but boring ice cream recipes to add, but some really exotic ones would be great!
