Hi everyone, I’m very new to growing bananas, actually it’s the first time I’ve ever grown bananas. I have 2 Blue Java and 2 Dwarf Cavendish trees planted in the garden.
A few days ago I watched a squirrel bite off the 2 foot long green tops of EVERY tree and eat it! So now every tree looks “cropped”. What advice or wisdom can you give me for this? Is that normal and has anyone else experienced that? What should I do, if anything?
Thank you again!

Monika

If your plants are small maybe put some chicken wire cages over them until they are a bit larger. I have many squirrels in my yard and they have never messed with my banana plants. Maybe spray something foul tasting on them, like hot pepper dilution or even neem oil. Good luck.. squirrels can be a real PITA!

Rabbits hate the smell of blood scented rodent repellent, maybe it works for squirrels, too.
