I realize that when I am pruning lower leaves, these layers should form the thicker pseudostem over time. However, when I am pruning lower leaves, I realize sometimes the layers brown and peel away from the pseudo stem, rendering them useless.
Is this due to incorrectly pruning? I don't want these layers to rot the stem and also they are rather unaesthetic so have been removing them. Is this normal? I usually prune with an inch of stem left on each.
Thank you!
