:03::03:After receiving 3 worthless plants from Florida Hills Nursery (they arrived with the main stem broken 2" from the soil and did not thrive after the damaged section was cut off), I am looking for a more reliable source. Wellsprings Garden has been recommended. I found 3 gallon plants for sale from Jene's Tropicals www.tropicalfruit.com For $29.99. Shipping for 2 plants to Texas would be $62.19. Wellsprings Garden plants are $29 for 3" plants and only $6.99 for shipping. I understand banana plants grow rapidly. For my first time growing banana plants would I be better off getting smaller plants from WG or larger ones from Jene's Tropicals? I also understand from this forum that I probably would be receiving namwah plants anyway. Any other reliable sources to purchase plants from?

I got mine from Wellspring on February for $16, they were the cheapest I had found them for. It seems now everyone is charging a lot more for blue java TCs. Perhaps they saw how popular it was with no other competitor charging low so they increased the price.
But at $30 you might as well try and get an actual pup from someone here or Ebay. You might have to spend a little more but at least it would be guaranteed to be what you pay for and it would grow much faster and easier.
My TC has been having a hard time, it's putting out new green leaves but growth is much much slower than a real pup. I may end up looking for a pup myself if it keeps struggling.

These have to be specifically labeled blue java. Many people out there label them "ice cream" when they are tall or dwarf namwah. wellspring is ok. hello organics is the worst. puzzlebox maker on this forum sent the best quality plants that ive received. Ive had good luck on ebay on this forum for sale page.

Jene sells mislabeled plants. If you want everything substituted with orinoco buy from her. Isn't part of the point in being on a forum not having to buy from sketchy sellers when the forum is full of growers and collectors?

If anyone on this forum has a blue java pup or dwarf cavendish pup they'd like to sell, please post or message me. Thanks! Bob

You can also try Going Bananas in Homestead, FL. They sell quality plants and I've been very happy with the bananas I've purchased from them.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just checked their website and it said they are closed. "As of March 20th, 2020 we will be closed until further notice. Thanks for understanding. Stay safe and healthy! Don & Katie" I'll check to see if they are still doing mail orders.

private party with proof of fruit/parent plant pictures or well know banana farm.. any online shop is probably not selling real Musa blue java.... if you can't find them, don't be to upset there is many other better varieties to choose from.
need to add that anyone labeling it "ice cream" or musa ice cream is not going to be a Musa Blue Java.. wellspring is "ice cream" and picture of fruits are namwa's.

I have a couple blue Java pups left if you are interested. They are 100 percent confirmed true blue Java. Pm me and I'll get you a pic of the bunch and we can talk details
I would never buy from florida 'shill' nursery. I don't even know if they could get me to take anything for free.

I’m in Brownsville, TX. One would think Dwarf Cavendish bananas would be available locally. Not so. I’ve purchased from Jene’s Tropicals previously and do recommend them. You know what you will be receiving. I’ll probably order some Dwarf Cavendish. I am a little concerned about shipping during the Gulf Coast summer heat.
