New to growing bananas. Looking for best and reasonable priced fertilizer. 8-10-8 seems to be the most common one but can not find it anywhere in large bags in my area. Any suggestions for other options. I have thought about Miracle gro with sop and epson salts added. Looking for best options. Thanks for any help.

The triples are good (10-10-10, ect). Look for farm supply dealer or fertilizer dealer. .... Walmart and the big-box stores usually have 30 or 40 lb bags in their garden center.

The best fertilizer is a mater-of-opinion. I use what is on sale in 50 lb bags (10-10-10) and supplement K with SOP of MOP. I also foliar spray my custom fertilizer mix on bananas. .... Internet/mail order of fertilizer get very expensive with shipping charges. 2 or 3 X's local cost. So if you understand the needs of the plant, you can mix different fertilizers to meet those needs economically.

Hi Ron, Im in NW FL.. I started with water soluble banana fuel from wellspring gardens, but it became apparent it would not be cost effective for 10+ banana plants lol.. im now using 13/13/13 that I can find at ace hardware.. I also saw 10/10/10 at home depot yesterday in 50lb bags. Im still getting dialed in on application rate, but doing roughly 16oz/plant per month.. supplementing K with wood ash, but will prob switch to MOP or another supplement for that.. my soil is already in the 7PH range, and wood ash can drive that up quickly. Good luck.

The best fertilizer is the Fruit Fuel for banana plants. It is a water soluble 16-8-24 (N-P-K) fertilizer with micronutrients. Feel free to send me a PM, willing to share my order.

Thanks, but way too expensive for my budget.
