Hello all,
I decided to try to make a video today with my camera...so I did, of my new banana bed. I have pics of it in my gallery, but here is an actual video of it, and then at the end there are pics of its progression over the season. I am packing right now to go on my trip to NC so I am not going to take the time to describe all the plants, but the biggest banana is California Gold for starters.

Enjoy! Mute it if you don't like the music...it can't be changed ! Sorry, lol.

Thanks for looking,
Taylor

Dean, which part took a lot of work, the video, or the bed?

The bed was a lot of hard work...but photobucket made the video easy to make!

Taylor, the bed! LOL!!!

I'm having problems with Photobucket right now. I can't upload. No upload button is available. I guess it's my new firewall. :parachutenanner:

That happened to me the other day...I didn't know why. It was working the past few days so I went ahead and uploaded it.

Huh, hopefully it works soon. I wanted to post some pictures to other forums. I was also thinking about using another image hoster. :bunchonanas:

Taylor - great video, and you have some really healthy banana plants there. It probably wouldn't be worth putting the effort into doing something like that over here because a lot of the 'nana's have to be taken in for Winter, we don't usually grow them as edibles, and they're comparatively slow growing over here as well. Keep us updated!

Thanks, take care

Great looking plants, Taylor. I think I may see some Arkansas trachies in the mix. :) I really like your video, but I would have chosen a little Jimmy Buffet for a tropical theme. ;)

Thanks for all the compliments!
The video was easy to make with PhotoBucket's "Remixer". Chris, that could be an alternative if yours are hard to make.

Austin, you see some Trachies and that Filibusta. There is an individual picture of the Filibusta at the end, with cold damage on the one leaf (a ring).

Dablo, the largest one is California Gold.

Pete, I bet you could do it with Basjoo and Trachies!!! Maybe an Orinoco in there somewhere for fruit.

I'll look up some other options for the music, and maybe I can make a better quality video when I get home (I am leaving home in minutes). Maybe the CG will throw a bloom out by then!!!

(Smoke is heavy right now from the wildfire, so will my bananas taste like smoke???)

Hey, Taylor. How are those palms growing now that it's hot out? I looked back at the video and found the filibusta. It looks great! Keep it well watered in this heat and load on the fertilizer to really push out more growth.

Austin,
Trachies have both put out 3 new fronds. 1 of which is a "4 section" one as I call them. The other one is still at "3 sections".

All the extra seedlings you sent me are in the ground and have only pushed out like 1 or 2 "1 section" fronds...but they are growing. Just fertilized last week.

Filibusta is on 4 I think. My Robusta from KMart is already on its 5-6 frond!!!

Great, Taylor. I'm glad to hear they are doing well. They will grow steadily. They start growing the fastest the 3rd year after they're planted. :)
