I got a plain commercial nerium oleander , i know there are more varieties which are much more frost tolerant.
what are youre experiences with the oleanders ?
What can they tolerate the first year?
And what can they survive when they hardend-off.
im not talking about nerium oleander ''atlas'' , just the plain nerium oleander.

My experience is limited to the tropics, so I don't think I can be of much help there. However, you are now growing one of the most toxic plants known to man - be cautious. I have collected some information on Oleander here (clicky linky) (http://ispeakforthetrees.blog.com/3045251/), so you know what to do if you do end up being poisoned by it... happens more often than one would hope, really.

Hi Lodewijk,
this is my oleander
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o28/dablo93/IMG_0017-3.jpg
pic was made in end of may, now he is full of flowers, it looks very nice!
I was told that it was the variety 'Hardy Pink'
we had in 2005 50 cm of snow and -13 after that, the oleander was standing in pot but it had no damage. last winter we had 5 days long temperatures below 0 (not lower then -6) and this winter he also had no damage.
if you have a good variety they grow well in our climate.
e.g nerium oleander 'Atlas' is a hardy type.
Troposfeer haves many hardy varieties now ( TROPOSFEER (http://www.troposfeer.nl) )
