Hi All - I have a banana tree that I have been growing for 5-6 months and it has grown like a weed on nothing but Florida sun and water. Yesterday I noticed that the bottom of the pstem is splitting open and it freaked me out. I noticed this about 20 minutes after the very first time I ever fertilized (just FYI). I don't know if this is a normal part of the growth process or if I have an issue? Photos of the issue and the whole plant are attached. Please fill me in!!! Thx!!! Photos here:

should be fine, just watch the leaves coming out the middle... as long as they keep coming its normal.. if they stop coming out the top/middle it may have a choke.

Not to worry. That is just a leaf petiole that couldn't expand as fast as the corm. A sign that the plant is growing well.
