I wanted to check on the roots on my banana as it came with very little. I was happy to see lots of new roots but I also discovered rot. I scooped out all the mushy brown areas and this is what's left.

Any advice on what I should do next? I sprayed it down with fungicide and am letting it dry out.

Should I let it dry out for a few days, then repot? Is it still viable with what's left? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Looks okay to me. Let the corn dry out a little then replant in some type of free draining soil. Don't overwater. Probably over watered when the plant was dormant, leading to rot. Hope this helps

Will do. How long would you reccomend letting it sit out to dry? I just worry about the precious roots drying out if I leave it out too long. Thank you for the help!

Maybe for a day. You could probably wrap the roots in a wet paper towel so they don't dry out, leaving the corn exposed

Repot in course potting soil and make sure the pot will drain ecess water out. Course sand would be best. Keep the grred pstem above the soil. It looks like there is a pup already starting the grow.

I unfortunately don't have any access to sand at the moment. I was going to try 50/50 peat moss and perlite tomorrow after I've let it dry out overnight. I also have a grow tent that stays pretty warm and humid for my hoya. Would it make a speedier recovery in there or should I stick in back in my South facing window?

I would additionally suggest treating it with Ceylon cinnamon. It has anti-fungal properties, and also stimulates root growth. Plenty of instructions can be found online :2738:

I've had successs with it myself. Good luck. :goteam:

Home Depot, Lowes and any building store ... builders sand is about $5 for a bag. Do not use 'play sand' or beach sand.
