My Blue Java started unfurling leaves before emerging about 2 weeks ago. After reading up on it and deciding it was bunching or choking and the only way to fix it was to cut the P stem down below the problem area. I've cut it down about 12 inches and it is still showing 2 cores. My question is if I have cut it down far enough. Thanks for the replies. Hope the pic makes it.

I had a Raja Puri try to choke on me this season. I made a 4" vertical cut instead of a horizontal cut. I peeled layer by layer like an onion until I got to the growing area. This wasn't enough so I did another 4" cut and peeled the layers. The second cut released the leaves allowing normal growth. By making a vertical cut you are preserving as much of the growing pstem as possible.

Good luck!

At this point, let it be and let the plant figure it out. Even a plant that is choking will find a way out on its own.
