I have what fastgrowingtrees.com sold as blue java.
Overwintered it inside. Most of the leaves ended up dying.
The trunk is around 8ft tall with one good leaf coming out the top.
Should I just replant it as Is? Or chop it down some? And if so how much trunk should I leave?
I was hoping to get fruit. I doubt I bring it inside again. Thing has to weigh a few hundred pounds. The root ball wouldn't even fit into the pot it was in the year prior and it was a pretty big pot.

Ummmm...... I wouldn't cut it down at all unless the top is rotten, which doesn't look like is the case. What is your zone? When can you plant it? Keep us updated!! Lookin' mighty good! Hopefully youl get her some nanners!!

Zone 8.
Thanks for the advice. I just didn't know if it would get tall enough to put on enough leaves.

Before it blooms? Good thought. Should be fine. The flower forms ahead of time, possibly weeks before the flag appears. So if you cut it down, and the flower is already being formed, then it would not do anything. Good luck!

So should I cut it or Not? And if so, to what height?

Looks like a great plant that has done well over the winter,
You may trim off expired leaves and repot and you will be fine.
Cutting the plant any further will not hurt either....you will just have a shorter more manageable plant till it sorts itself out.
Then you willl have to do the same thing next season.

Do not cut it, put it in the ground as soon as weather permits, at that height you should see fruit this year!
Happy growing,

What Hdynad said.
I chopped into a mature Raja Puri that had two leaves this past week about six inches from the top of the pstem because it looked like it was choked...right into a flower. Be careful!!
