Hi everyone!

So I've had this banana plant since september. For a while it was doing great, but recently it has started turning brown and yellow (also the new leaves and pups!) and I have no clue what's wrong. Here's what I do know:

-I water it about 2 or 3 times a week in the winter
-I recently fed it for the first time in 3 months (I'm so sorry i failed you)
-It's standing right in front of a West-facing window (try to give it as much light as I can)
-The air humidity is really low so I spray the leaves about once or twice a day.
-It gets pretty cold at night where I live

Here are the pictures: https://imgur.com/a/3upjaVp

Please help me, and most of all my banana plant! I really want to keep it alive.

Thanks!

looks normal for a banana inside during the winter. you might want to slow down with the watering tho.

Toooo muuch water! ... Does water drain from the bottom of the pot? The pot must drain!

Thank you for telling me! And yes, the inner pot (plastic terracotta thingy) is too small for my ceramic pot, so theres about a 10 inch gap between the plant and the pot, so all excess water pools down there instead of at the roots (haha). I was really worried about underwatering it from seeing the brown crisp leaves, so this is a major heads-up! Thanks!

So what happen to the water in the outer pot? It needs to be discarded and the inter pot NOT be allowed to sit in the water. ... If the inter pot is above the excess water, then evaporation of that water would help to raise the humidity around the plant.

-I water it about 2 or 3 times a week in the winter - Stop watering so much, let it dry a bit between watering every other week or so.

-I recently fed it for the first time in 3 months - Don't feed during dormant winter months.

-The air humidity is really low so I spray the leaves about once or twice a day. - Get a Humidifier, preferably a warm water steam one. will help to keep it warm too.

-It gets pretty cold at night where I live - BUT how cold in the are where the plant is? Document that with a thermometer, and then keep the area warm at least 60°

This is what I do in the winter in my greenhouses in San Diego.

I have similar issues, not only was I over watering, some millipedes burrowed inside the corm of my main banana. My solution was to separate the mother and clone, to double my chances of banana survival. Millipedes are good for the garden, but inside a potted plant they eat the roots when the soil is trying in between watering. You might want to take it outside when it's warm but stay away from dirt in case unwanted millipedes crawl in and infest the pot.
