Is it ok to have things like watermelon or tomato etc near banana plants or are there any plants that can transmit disease to them? Ive got some volunteer plants near my bananas and not sure if they could cause any wilt or other plant disease problems? Thanks!

The only pest/disease issue that I have seen transmitted to bananas in Giant Mexican Whitefly, and even that has had minimal effect. I can't imagine that tomatoes and watermelons could be a problem.

Vegetables are a good companion plant that are used for banana circles.
A Southeast Florida member grows pole beans

A web search(banana companion plants, banana circles) will reveal plants that are commonly used in these compact garden projects.

Occasionally I will get a caterpillar type pest that takes a liking to my basjoos but no diseases that I am aware of.
