Yesterday we noticed 2 blooms on a dwarf Cavendish Banana on one of the 3 plants in the pot. We decided to move the 25 gallon pot back into the greenhouse before the blooms got bigger. Frost can happened between 10/15 to 10/31.
One bug broke off and I was so sad. BUT then this morning I notice the remaining bud had split into 2 buds!
Has anyone ever seen this with one bud on top of the other? Talk to me, please!

And this you can see where the 2 buds were before we moved it. Then today the 2nd bud appeared above the one that did not break.
The bud in the very first picture had the 2nd above just appear over night like magic!! There is no hint of it in the first picture I posted above from yesterday.

So here is the bud this morning and you can see 2 distinct flowers, one on top of the other.
I mean anyone ever heard of 3 buds on one plant at a time??? Please reply

No only the one flower bud and we counted 7 hands
Tomorrow I will get a pic. My other plant has bananas that are filling out now. Hopefully they will be ready by early October

Again, don’t be alarming!.....LOL!.....It’s normal for Musa Double Mahoi!.....Musa Double Mahoi has been observed to put out even 4-5 flower buds at the same time!....There is a lot of info, pictures online (web)!.....
Hopefully it helps!....

This is the first time this pot bananas has produced fruit. There is another huge full plant in the same pot. We did not divide in the spring like we typically do. I did do some reading and it says the 2nd season for Mahoi to happen.

Most of the times, it should happens the way as described, but not necessarily will happen that way all the time!....In the Nana world anything can happen, unexpected!....Trust me on this!.....

I have a question. Can someone please answer? I have a 3rd pot of bananas that is ready to bust out of the 30-gallon pot. It was the first day of fall yesterday and we need to move it into the greenhouse for the winter. Is it OK to divide in the fall? We have always divided in the spring. We did not divide this past spring and 2 of the 3 are producing fruit. The one I am talking about was the one I was sure would bloom this year because it is the biggest of the 3 potted bananas. If we divide now, could it still produce fruit this fall or early winter?
On another note the "twins" are changing every day. One thing I am sure of is there will be less fruit. Generally we get 7 hands And I have been told that is good.

Congrats! Nice bunches for potted plants! The Musa double Mahoi is sadly extinct! The correct name is Musa Double Cavendish. They are a mutation of normal dwarf cavendish and are the same except they can make multiple bunches! Next year you could get 4-5 separate buds and peduncles as my bro Hector said! Very cool Musa to have and watch!
On the pups! I have never observed any negative effects when cutting pups off a fruiting mother plant! Now that being said, be careful. Don’t butcher the plant! And I have a rule I use! I only separate pups in a 1/4th area at a time.
So look at the plant and picture the the soil around the pstem as 4 equal (1/4th) size zones! If there is 1 or even 3 pups all in a single zone I will take them all! But I will wait about 2 weeks before I separate more from a different zone.
This allows the mom to grow some replacement roots in the area you cut! It also doesn’t shock the plant, which is very important while fruiting. In 10-14 days I move to the next zone and remove more.
One thing I try to do also that helps! I always “try” to leave my last or replacement pup in the opposite direction of where the bunch is hanging. This pup behind the mom is major support to the bunch! It will keep the plant from leaning, falling, or similar problems.
I have great success with this “rule” maybe it will help you also. Because if you have over 2 pups or so on that mom, it is gonna take FOREVER for the bunch to fill! Especially in fall. So cut off those energy suckers! Haha.
Good luck and congrats on the bunches! Double cavendish is such a fun plant. I just wish it wasn’t a cavendish Hahhaa.
