Hello,

I am looking for seeds or plants of Musa itinetrans var. xishuangbannaensis or Mekong Giant (are they really the same?). Couldn't find anyone so far willing to ship to Germany.

Thanks :08:

You can find them here:

2204 Giant Yunnan Banana ( Musa itinerans Gigantea )

Banana Seeds in retail packets for the home gardener (http://www.seedman.com/banana.htm)

However, I bought the 25 and I have not been able to germinate one of them yet. I don't know anyone who has.

I bought the cape smoke primer as well to help.

how long have you been trying to germinate? And follow the directions on the site? It seems to be a legit place simply from the language and description, but if poor or bad seeds. . . We were given acuminata, sikkimensis and ventricosum seeds this year and got 50% germ on average - but no record of where they came from originally (visitor dropped them off - and for sure the ventricosum is a ventricosum - other two we shall find out.

Here is a decent forum link to read.
It could help clarify.

Does anyone know for sure what these seeds are? When I asked Jim at Seedman.com if he new what they were, he said he didn't know any more than what the supplier told him and labeled it as.

I am confused because I keep seeing several different names used seemingly interchangably, namely Mekong Giant, Giant Yunnan Banana, itinerans gigantea and xishuangbannaensis, possibly one or two more that all seem to be referencing possibly the same thing??

Anyone have any plants from these seeds old enough to get an idea of what they might be?:confused:
