I got 2 Borneo Giant Alocasia July 27th , gave one to my daughter and kept the one in the clay pot on the left of the picture , its about 10" in that picture .

Its now about 20" tall and the biggest leaf is 16" , a few more leaves are emerging that should be even bigger . This is my first Alocasia and I'm impressed .

Are you sure this is a Alocasia? Esp. Thai giant? Looks like a Colocasia and maybe even a Colocasia esculenta (great plant if it is esculenta, just different from the Thai Giant :-) Both of them grow FAST!
PLEASE, we are not experts here - can someone else chime in?
Thai Giant generally refers to a Colocasia, so even if the Alo Colo got mixed up, the leaves do not look like a Thai Giant. . .
Where did you buy it from?
Plants delight is not the cheapest, sort of expensive in fact, but generally true to name and great selection (and usually good quality)

It was listed as an " Alocasia Borneo Giant " , got it from Green Earth Co. I'm as far from an expert as you could get so I would not know one from the other at this stage of the game . I didn't think price was bad and shipping wasnt bad either , there was no upcharge over flat rate priority fees .

Edit :
After a bit of online research mostly looking at pictures and names of some of the Alocasia and Colocasia varieties I would tend to agree with you (pjkfarm) . I do like the plants and don't regret the purchase but I will be emailing the seller and see what their take is on the issue .

Emailed Ted at Green Earth , sent picture and let him know my concerns . He just emailed back , he agrees it is a Colocasia and said he has an email into his distributor . He also apologized and sent a full refund shipping included . PayPal just let me know refund is complete . Nice to deal with people like this , I've got a few Basjoo from him . He says he is getting some Alocasia Borneo Giant from a different grower in a month or so , I'll give him an order when he gets them .

Yeah most definitely Colocasia. Location of how leaf attaches to stem is big tipoff. Many alocasia leafs point upward because the stem runs through the leaf. Colocasia usually droop down

Yes , thats what I noticed when I was looking at pictures of the Alocasia Giants and the Colocasia Giants late last night . At least I have it narrowed down to what it is and I'll get an Alocasia or two in the future .

Glad you got refunded, definitely not Alocasia and probably not Thai Giant. All my Thai Giant's were grown from seed. They do not have a bulb like Colocasia's and have been reclassified as Leucocasia. Check out my photo album for pic's of Thai Giant plants, seeds and root system.

I don't know what variety of Colocasia it is but the leaves are similar to your Thai Giant , not as big of course . I guess time will tell what I have here , it was in a 3" pot when I first got it and I don't think it had a bulb but I didn't remove the potting soil when I re potted it so I can't say for sure .

Final thought from a novice - not familiar with Borneo Giant Colocasia/Alocasia or Leucocasia. The there is one "giant" from Laos, and of course the Thai, but Borneo?? Can someone educate me?
