Hi! I was at someone's house, and saw banana plants in the backyard. I think they are icecream banana but am not sure. I was going to post here and see what everybody at the .org thought, but I can not post pictures to my gallery, then to my post. Because it says, "That's odd, can't display this page...
Is it just me, or can none of us post pictures for a unknown amount of time?
Thanks in advance:ha:

Not Ice Cream. Where are those located?
They seem to be a very tall Bluggoe type Orinoco (?); tall Cali Gold (?)

If you click on find me on the map, it is literally 2-3 minutes away from my dot. They kind of have a blue hue...... not ice cream?

Let's say not a Blue Java. The name Ice Cream is used on a number of different Banana varieties. Blue Java is in the Ney Mannan ABB sub-group and a close cousin to the Bluggoe types.
As far as Bluggoe ABB subgroup, there are a number of sub-varieties (71 + /-). Even a listed 'Ice Cream'. I believe these are the names the sample were collected under and may or may not been tested (DNA) to verify sub-group identity. Look at this link to see the sub-group. Click on a name to see identifiers that may be shown. https://www.crop-diversity.org/mgis/taxonomy?focus=93
Now because you say there is a light tint of blue; I think you are looking at a 'Sliver Bluggoe'. Next time at the plant, check to see if the petoile canal is open but small. .... Orinoco petoile canal is closed. Also note, the picture shown for the Sliver Bliggoe nana finger does show a slight blue on some of the fingers. ... but there could be couple of other possibilities in the Bluggoe group.

Thems some tallll plants!!! may be off the subject , but,, Is there a reason that most of the lower leaves are cut off ?.
I see that some of them prolly broke and were cut off but some look like they were freshly trimmed .

the plants were just trimmed, along with any leaves that were showing yellow. Not sure what I am going to call those banana plants (I posted this thread mostly because I got a plant from them so I have this variety, I got one from them in the spring) Thanks for all your replies! :08:

They are Musa tall namwa.
The name “Ice Cream” should never be used with bananas. It causes so much confusion! Especially with Musa blue java and Musa namwa. Neither taste like ice cream. Taste good! But not like ice cream!
That tall namwa in the picture will be your #1 best producer! They are so productive and grow very fast! Do not need propping! Just all around an excellent banana plant!

Ice-cream banana is also called a Blue Java banana by various growers as far as I know. I have one parent plant, it's 4 feet tall and very thick. It's producing some offspring that I will break off eventually and try to cultivate into a new plant.
