I repotted a banana about 2 weeks ago and moved to a sunnier location. The plant has put out two new leaves since then and is working on a third. They have all been very light colored and are not unrolling well. I do t think water or fertilizer is the issue. The sun shouldn’t be. It has been very hot as of late so I was thinking maybe something to do with temps? No issues on my other plants but they are located elsewhere. I’ll do my best with the upload but it hasn’t been working for me today.

What kind of fertilizer was applied and how much?

Te folded leaves indicate lack of water or high heat (radiant) to the leaves. the plant needs some shading or cooling (sprinkler). The light green; chlorotic leaf edges; and curled & thin leaves are all symptoms of too much nitrogen. Nana plants that size would only need a 1/2 to 3/4 cup (handful) of balanced fertilizer (10-10-10 or similar) spread in a 3ft circle.

Prior to repotting it was fertilized with Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro 9-3-6 at 1 TSP/gal once every one to two weeks. That’s weaker than the label directions. Then after the repotting it wasn’t fertilized until after the the leaves started to look weird. I fertilized with a weak dilution of the Greek Regimen by Nectar for the Gods minus their “Kraken” product which is a crab and shrimp product. The leaves didn’t get better or worse after that. I used Fox Farm Ocean Forest potting soil mixed with perlite and the potting soil from the pot the banana was coming out of. I barely disturbed the root ball during the move. It was coming out of a RootTrapper II pot by RootMaker. I’m beginning to think that maybe the FF Ocean Forest may have been a bit hot. I’ve looked into it a little bit and found that some people have mentioned it being a little hot.

I do have a bag of the Fruit Fuel (I think) that I purchased here on the forum that I plan to start using once it’s issues are resolved. I was waiting for it to get about this size before starting it.

Post a complete picture of the plant & pot. What is the Ph of the potting soil?

Post a complete picture of the plant & pot. What is the Ph of the potting soil?

Ph is ~6 (+/- .5)

The picture quality is bad. I had to resize and edit it down three times to get it crappy enough to upload.

And it also flipped sideways after uploading.

1) the Ph is a little low. Bring it up to about 6.8.

2) The soil manufacture stated: 'There’s no need for nitrogen fertilizers at first; ...' Earthworm castings, bat guano, fish emulsion, and crab meal are all nitrogen rich additives. The nutrients furnished should be good for 3 to 5 months. I can't find more detail about nitrogen content of the soil. But obviously the additional fertilizer your adding is not needed. ... I still feel like symptoms indicate excess nitrogen. It the pot drains very fast, a good water flush would help.

3) I'm concerned about water content of the soil. Use a long stem moister meter to check moisture level deep in the pot and though the drain holes. Water when the lower part of the pot is near dry. This is where the roots are. ... If the soil is showing dry around the outer part of the pot, but wet next to the corm, then this could be a indication of root rot starting. The fungus is drawing water out of the corm.

I have a couple bananas looking almost identical..

what happened was I bought 2 bags of cow manure and compost from Walmart. the bags smelled just a bit ripe from the cow manure. they struggled a bit and the leaves started to look like that.

after a few good rains and watering they are coming back as they get new leaves but the leaves are still a bit deformed.
