I read that cycling cold hardy banana species seeds through warm and cool temperature differences while they are in the process of germinating can help increase germination rates.

This might even be the reason banana seed germination rates seem to be so low.

Maybe switching between 60 degrees F and 82 degrees F, a couple times over 2 weeks.

It certainly makes sense to me. I am wondering if even more significant fluctuations in temperature might be warranted, at least for the first 1-3 weeks or so, especially for species that thrive in locales where spring frosts might be encountered. Not that I really have any clue what the environmental conditions are in those parts of the world, but it might be worth a try.
