I remember seeing him live at U of Michigan in the early seventies, and I loved the way he always made us aware of our own hypocrisy. Poignant, controversial, intelligent, unpretentious, observant - are but some of the descriptive adjectives that come to mind when referring to George. He had a knack for the overt and sublime humor in most of life's embarrassing moments - and no one was immune. The character voices he came up with were spot-on, too. In saying goodbye to George, it is fitting to use his description of death in the politically-correct way that he despised....He didn't die, he just "passed on."

its sad to see such an icon of the 80's (bill and ted's excellent adventure, and bill and ted's bogus journey) die. i loved his off beat humor and the sly way he poked fun at everyone. i wonder who there gonna get to do the voices on, "thomas the train". it wont ever be the same without george. he did have a way with colorful metaphores....he will be missed.
