I know very little about banana plants so I really have no idea what this is.

These plants are in my neighbor's yard (which is a tropical jungle) and there are lots of them because they've been growing there since the 1970s.

They are light green, and there are many clumps of fruit that are currently greenish-yellow. I don't know if they're edible.

I'm in S. California and they seem to grow well (except the leaves seem to be getting ragged as we've gotten hotter temps).

Sorry for the lack of info but I'd really like to know what these are if possible. Thank you!

It looks like Musa Orinoco to me.
Possibly Dwarf Orinoco depending on height.

Thank you for at least giving me a possibility because I really have no idea how to identify. I'll look up that name.

I assumed they were probably edible because my neighbor's gardener often steals the whole stems that hang over my side! Anyways, I brought it up and my neigbor gave me a pup so hopefully I'll grow my own now.

Oh, and the tallest ones in the yard are two that are about 15 feet tall, so maybe not a dwarf.

THANKS!!!!

Yep, just good old Musa Orinoco in that case!
