Want to plant it in ground in North Georgia, 7b. Basjoo is easy to get here (Lowes has them now) but I think it gets too big for the area I want. Only reputable place I see it is plantsdelight nursery and it's over 60$ with shipping for a tiny plant!

Anyone have a pup to sell or know of a vendor who has them? I have tried seeds but can't get to germinate.

Thanks
Kevin

Must have had bad seeds - they germinate very easily and quickly - try another supplier (who did you use - nice for us to know not to buy there :-)

I got them off ebay from a seller in the UK last year. I can't remember the name (think it had a guys name) but was recommended on this site.

Is sikkimensis easy in particular? I have three seeds left tell me your method and I'll give it a go. I've tried (twice) soaking in warm water 48 hrs, then putting on heat mat/seedling tray with plastic cover.

heat mat at 80 degrees, air 65-85, planted in promix cells (cells 2 inches deep 1.5x 2 wide), soil kept moist constantly, seeds 1/4 inch deep, max 3/8. not shaded (i.e. bench is in full sunlight for 3/4 of the day). No scoring or soaking of seeds. (experimented with Musa and Ensete both with scoring and soaking and found no difference so why waste the time). Generally get 60-80% germination on both Musa and Ensete. Both can surprise one with later germination, but generally after main batch germinates (this is over a week, max ten days) , anything later is within two weeks of final of first batch.
