We have just provided our forecast for the 2019 Banana fruiting season in the South.
Due to the very mild winter in most parts of Zone 8. We can confidently forecast that in the Summer and Fall of 2019, there will be more Bananas produced and and eaten in here than any other year in recorded history.

I agree! I had four plants last year that flowered in early September. This year I have ten plants that are within a foot of normal flowering height and it’s May 1st. No flowers before July! Need more leaves!

Each of my neighbors had a rack. I only had tissue cultures. Hoping for this fall. So far, everything is shooting to the sky.

How fast do your Sabas grow every season? Do you ever get any fruit from them in your area?

I planted a couple namwa pups at my Mother's house in Spring 2018. Visited her today and one of the namwas has a flower coming out. Its only about 7 feet tall (challenged location plus minimal fertilizer) but has eight good leaves. My namwas are in the 13-15 foot range and big as a barrel so it was odd to see a flower on such a small plant. Didn't think it was possible. Looking forward to see how many hands her plant puts out.
So yeah, gonna be a big year for backyard bananas in the SE.

They grow 10-14 of Pstem height. I don't know if you saw the forecast video, but we show them in May of 2018 last year and then from May 1of 2019. They are probably full grown in the video.
We do get fruit...not like the namwah. Ice cream or others, but we get it. It is very slow to mature and seems like over 4 months are needed.

Outstanding! Most of ours have only 3 leaves now---it was a mild winter and cool dry Spring. Things seem to be taking off now.I expect flowers by July 4 on several varieties.
