Colocasia esculenta - has big corms and looks like could be planted deeper than ground level. All the Alocasias produce baby bulblets under the big corm, so I would assume can be planted quite deep (6"? or more?) Some of the other Colocasia, say Fontenesii seem to also have bulblets down "deep", so plant parent deep as well??
Literature says 8 to 10 inches. I will try some this year at that depth, but for years have planted ground level and had the champion of champions in the neighborhood, so posting here simply to see if someone else has had experience with same.
Next year I can post and tell what happened:-)

The deeper you plant the later they bloom.

Many bulbs/ plants in temperate zones can be formed to your use.

My Colocasia esculenta's are started early in pots inside, then planted a couple inches deep in the garden.

Natural settings for the plant reveal a root structure for his plant at 6-12 inches in zone 10-11 coastal.

This plant lives in the top 10-inches of soil in tropical zones.
I have seen this plant as a fringe bay plant in a saltwater environment...... total beast.

Containers this plant is a beast also
