I recently decided to plant some banana plants in my backyard, so I got a namwa, blue java and brazilian plant from GoingBananas in FL. However, before buying those 3 a friend of mine gave me a banana plant which I call mistery banana because neither him nor I know what it is.

This plant looks fine to me but slower to grow compare to the others. The more I read and learn about bananas the more I believe it is a water sucker.

So here is my question:

Can a water sucker produce a sword? if so, would it be a good idea to remove it once the sword comes out?

Thank you.

Yes!.....It's possible that a water sucker Nana plant grows as normal as any other Nana plant and produce sword pups/suckers!....And even flower, blooms!....Just give her the necessary balance nutrients, irrigation, etc. and she will reward you back with a nice size pups/suckers and a Nana bunch when fruiting!....

It's up to you, but I personally leave at least one pup in each Nana mat for the next generation crop/cycle!....Means next fruiting Nana plant!....

Congrats!....Nice acquisitions!....You can't go wrong buying from Don and Katie (Going Bananas)....Very kind and special people!.....A trusted source!...

Good luck!.....

Welcome to the banana gang!.....:2723::bananarow::2723:

Thank you for your help! Yes, they are great and very helpful. I initially went there (Going Bananas) to get fertilizer and then fell in love with every banana i tasted while there. 3 visits later I ended up with 3 different plants.
