I’m in western MO, zone 6b. I’ve got a porch on the east side of my house. It’s only open to the east. I’m thinking of enclosing it, mostly with glass. It’s about 9’x24’. East is a long side. I’d like to make it sort of a sunroom and tropical garden. The roof has about a 2’ overhang, so there’d be shade from that. I wonder if I’d need grow lights too? Maybe a couple sky lights would work?
Besides some dwarf bananas, I’d like to have citrus, pomegranite, and figs. There is a deck beside the porch, so it would be fairly easy to move some things outside in the summer.
I don’t know if I can afford it yet. Just trying to decide how it could be done. I plan to get an estimate this summer. I wouldn’t need any structural changes, so I’m hoping it wouldn’t cost a fortune. I would probably need a ductless heatpump for heating and cooling.
