Hi! I am brand new to this club and I just want to say hi! I got my first banana tree 2 years ago and fell in love with them!!! I was told that in order to winterize them, you will need to cut them down and cover them with pine straw and a bucket, but learned that they never grew past the height from the previous summer. So I my father-in-law told me to never cut them down and cover them with something and then then open them back up in spring.

How to winterize them would depend on your location and type of Banana plant. Some will only grow to a certain height and some may choke and have to be cut back anyway.
