Hey guys! I am wondering if anyone has supported their banana bunches with bamboo before, and if so, how did you do it? I have an abundance of bamboo at my disposal, and no money to buy PVC for the standard method! Haha.
Thanks!

Locally zone 6 bamboo is like one inch tough pipe.

We prop up all sorts of stuff with bamboo from short props (2 feet) to tall ones (20+ feet).
For tall stuff we usually use two, sometimes three, cut off all the branches except the last two nodes at the top (depending on what we are propping, we leave the branches 2 to 12 inches long). We then "wedge" the plant to be propped between the culm (stem) of the bamboo and the "v" formed by the branches. Sink the other end in the ground, sometimes put a rock against it. Quick, easy and very good for our budget - can do this faster than driving to home depot. Will last a year, sometimes more depending on variety of bamboo, but if we have to keep propping, we replace just in case (bamboo gets all sorts of bugs inside which weaken it (or destroy it even). We do not treat the bamboo as do not want chemicals in the ground - treating will eliminagte bugs and bamboo can then last for years.
