We are now entering the winter season so it's time for a new thread. These bananas took their first frost last week causing minimal damage. I planted them in June so I hope the p-stems are big enough to overwinter. The goal is not to get scared and dig them up like last year. Time will tell if they make it...

Looks like a solid setup. If you're just using Xmas lights however, that may not be enough. I know most years the ground will freeze solid several inches down.

37.667910 - Thank you. It's a short "cold season" for them, warming up again in Feb.There is a big fan and a 1500w heater that's all it's using. Xmas lights are just for show =)
Thanks Hector. You know I was being told that here. It's gonna be bad and so far nothing, Our outside temps are going up to seasonal and rain in the forecast for next weekend.. We'll see how it turns out. I bet you're enjoying the days of sunshine now!
So Happy to be going back out to Sunny California this month! A well needed trip .

Enjoy. We've been running low/mid 60's this week here in NorCal. I know our neighbor's in SoCal have been 70's. And sunny of course :)

37.667910, we're visiting the Bay area too. A nice drive up the coast. I saw some areas have had rain. Are the fires any better now? You hear more about it then us being in the state.

Looking good Matt, looks like the cold sensitive varieties Dwarf Cavendish and Dwarf Red may require extra warmth, not only in air temperature but soil temperature as well.
