Hi
My name is Dale, wife is Peggy, we joined a couple months ago. But have been growing bananas off and on for about 20yrs. Getting back in heavy again now and plan on stay there. We were wondering who thinks the same as us. A friend of ours say these are Namwa, and we disagree we say The Real Blue Java. One has just now sent up its flag leaf but has only been planted for about 8-9 months from a 1ft.tc plant came from Going Bananas. There is no red on rim of the leaves or pink on top of midribs or stems but on back of midrib very light mahogany coloring as a little on bottom of stem maybe a foot up from ground other than that all green. What might anyone else think these are? Thanks for your opinions. Dale 56man1000

I took this photo to easily compare. Namwah on top has a wide pad where they connect and bottom doesn't. Bottom would represent blue java

The proof is in the color of the fruit skins. Please post a picture after several hands have formed. :)

I'd like to help you.

Are you able to post photos on another site (excepting Facebook)?

At what point in time do the bananas turn blue due to the coating on the skin? If they get to a decent size and they don't look blue than I assume it is Namwah right?

I noticed fairly soon on mine. I would say some blue/wax during the first mont. There is a totally different look to the plant also. On mine I was for sure it was a tall Orinoco! I describe mine as a “leaning tall Orinoco”. Skinny pstem and all.
