I'm not sure if this is strange or not, but I took an image of one of my dwarf plants on Friday that is going to produce some bananas soon.

Today I went outside after a light rain and saw a second flower coming out as well.

Has anyone seen this before? I never have!

double congratulations.

it might have been said that if a ufo fly's over a banana twice that this can happen. I see them fly by all the time but they do not fly over my bananas so I can say I have never seen it. ;)

Thanks!

They are dwarf or super dwarf cavendish. I got two plants online from Ted at greenhouse business in July of 2017. This one is fruiting, but the other hasn’t yet. Maybe this one will be making up for the others slack!

I’ll check to see how many pups there are. I think maybe 2-3?

Yep, it’s 5-6’.

Is the term Double Mahoi a species or just a term for the “twins”. I guess I can just look it up eh?

Update: Just googled Double Mahoi. So it seems it's s super dwarf cavendish mutation. So I guess what I have going on isn't strange at all since these are twining by design.

Thanks for the feed back!

Holy crap! I live near (22 miles, 45 min. drive) Ted's Greenhouse and I never heard of it! I looked it up online and it is a very big operation with a huge selection.

Several decades ago, there were many large commercial greenhouse growers in the Chicago area, e.g., Jamaican Gardens, Elmhurst Flower Growers, Amlings, etc., that are now gone. With their demise, the wholesale grower supply companies, e.g., Florist Products and BFG, also left the Chicago area. I wonder where Ted's Greenhouse buys its grower supplies because, without nearby grower supply companies, shipping charges will kill you.
