You'e likely dealing with something similar to the white Fly or other nocturnal pests. these tend to hide on the backside of the plant leaf. ... A general pesticide spray should take care of them.
Late summer and lots of rain tend to bring these out. I'm also having the same issues on my banana plants.

Yes, we don't see them in the day, I thought I saw a small white fly though, yesterday, when I took the photo. We try not to treat the Namwa but nature is just too hungry around here.
Spraying these big plants is not going to be an easy job. I will have to evaluate if it's worth doing or not.

I use Carbaryl a general garden spray. Fruit &veges can be harvested after 3 days (1 to 3 days; see directions). ... For you, I think a 1/2 dose will work applied twice during the month and should get you through the white fly season (???). ... Yes these are only eating on the leaves and can be ignored; but lack of treatment might make the problem worse next year. White flies hibernate in the ground.
