Does anyone have an idea why our new leaves are coming in like this? (pic attached). The last 3-4 leaves have been this way. Watering has been normal, live in San Diego with good sun.

Looks like physical damage from orioles or similar stripping fiber for leaves.

If the leaf is unrolling like that then it may be too much fertilizer specifically nitrogen.
I had a similar problem earlier this year and posted up some photos about it. I skipped fertilizing until the leaf unrolled normally and then resumed my fertilizer program. I miscalculated the amount of fertilizer needed when the plants were coming out of winter dormancy with multiple pstems from a single corn.

Thanks for all the replies. We haven't fertilized in a few months so I'm not sure if it could the fertilizer issue. Wasn't sure if this is just a common issue with the Ensete ventricosum 'Maurelii' Red Banana. Hopefully one of the next few leaves will pop out healthy but so far its been about 4 in a row with the ripped/torn look.
