So I ordered these seeds from seedman.com and they arrived fast. I also ordered some trays with domes and heating mats, which will be here this Thursday. I can't wait! These guys are supposed to grow up to 40ft tall!

I did order the Ingens as well but those may take another 4 weeks for them to arrive. I'll keep this thread updated with my progress.

Keep us updated.. I'm trying again from seedman as well. Got them in a sealed mason jar in damp vermiculite outdoors in the shade. I got one of these to germinate before, but I disturbed it too much in its early growth (via emptying the jar and letting it dry out). This time, I won't do anything until I see green emerge!

I'm still skeptical about whether this will be xishuangbannaensis or not.. since the name isn't listed in the description anywhere. If yours sprout, they should have a red sap when cutting the petioles, red undersides of young leaves at certain heights, and a brownish-red pseudo when it matures. Here is the link http://english.xtbg.cas.cn/rh/ss/hm/200802/W020090810511632122228.pdf

Wish you luck. Hopefully ours will sprout and are the giants we seek!

Nice, glad you are trying again. So far, I haven't got one of them to germinate.

Of the seeds I did buy, the birds of paradise were the easiest (5 out of 12). I also was able to get the black thai to germinate as well (4 out of 12).

I bought 25 yunnan seeds and nothing yet. It's been 10 months already... I was hoping they'd be ready so I'd get some growing time in this summer outdoors.

I even used the cape smoke primer to help with the germination, as well as heat mats, and the plastic container with seed starter.

What gives.

I have a couple Musa Itinerans Burmese Blue now! I’m excited to see how they compare to the Mekong Giant (var. Itinerans)

Good luck! Let us know if they germinate!

I think one is germinating!!! It's in the middle of the pic.. white part emerging! It looks like the tip of it is brown but that's just a piece of vermiculite. I might transfer it to a pearlite jar and keep it wet.. so the roots can breathe. I have a bad feeling "gigantea" won't be .var xishuangbannaensis, but we will see! <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/140393987@N02/48181824686/in/dateposted-public/" title="Itinerans var &quot;gigantea&quot; seed sprouting maybe"><img src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48181824686_575bf45e42.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="Itinerans var &quot;gigantea&quot; seed sprouting maybe"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I would not disturb it at all. Let it be until you see more. It's like a pimple that you want to pop but you shouldn't. Don't do it! lol

We need this one to survive so there can be pups for all!
